Stibiconite has fooled even the most advanced collector, they will mistake it for petrified wood. No, no, no, it is a crystal. If you were to break this crystal it would likely still have some of the stibnite unaltered. Stibiconite is an uncommon mineral. Unusual and hard to find. Another one of the homely minerals, this one with a storied past.
In 2008 I was approached by one of my Houston customers about buying a friend’s inheritance. As it turns out the heiress was the daughter of Consie and Dalton Prince, well known Texas mineral dealers. Throughout the 1970s and 80s they traveled every summer to Mexico buying directly from the miners. The minerals were packed in large banana boxes. Consie being a bit of a hoarder would select a single crystal from each box to sell then would seal the box and place it in their warehouse. I bought the warehouse. The boxes had remained sealed for all of those years still wrapped in the original newspaper wrappers. That is how I was able to date each box.
