This excellent example of a classic favorite; recently discovered in a border town estate treasure trove. Reportedly first mined in the 1960s and stashed away for over a half a century. What a joy to have an historic gem in your collection. When the staurolite twin at a 60 degree angle they are called St. Andrew's cross. Much rarer is when they twin at a 90 degree angle, "Cruciform" (perpendicular) then they are called a Maltese Cross as in this specimen.
