Origins: From the classic mineral locality Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada.
Mont Saint-Hilaire is famous for of its great number of rare and exotic mineral species. Siderite is Iron Carbonate. The other common carbonates are calcium carbonate - calcite, manganese carbonate - Rhodochrosite, half way between calcite and rhodochrosite is dolomite which is calcium manganese carbonate, zinc carbonate is smithsonite and copper carbonate - malachite. Switch out the metal and interesting things happen!
