Blue Green and Pastel Blue Gibbsite, for the expert collector Rarely seen as a colorful specimen, unexpectedly feather light
Dimensions (millimeters): 90 x 65 x 60
Dimensions (inches): 3.5 x 2.55 x 2.4 Origin: Baoshan, Yunnan Province, China
Gibbsite (aluminum hydroxide) is commonly known as a dull white or gray mineral but this discovery in China a decade ago yielded these display crystalline blue botryoidal specimens. This color is indeed exceedingly uncommon. A true collectible mineral for the connoisseur. Since it looks so much like smithsonite or hemimorphite everyone expects this to be heavy. You will be very surprised by its feather weight.
