Cuprite Group of Sharp Octahedral interlocked penetrating crystals with blue patina. Collector's Select.
Dimensions (millimeters): 35 x 25 x 22
Dimensions (inches): 1.4 x 1 x .9
From Rubtsovskoe Mine, Rudnyi Attai, Western Siberia, Russia.
This world class locality stunned the mineral collecting world with what can be considered huge cuprite crystals. The mine is now closed. Cuprite is an oxide of copper. Wonderful brilliant metallic luster with Subtle red and blue tones. These crystals are often associated with micro silver/copper rare minerals. I did not note any on this specimen but careful inspection with a hand lens may yield a surprise.
